Notice to Parents (summary). We need your consent before we collect your child’s information. The story details you’ve entered stay only on your device until your payment goes through. Your card charge is how you give and we verify that consent. After payment, we use the details only to make and deliver this book, share them only with the companies listed in the notice, and delete them on the schedule it describes. Read the full Notice to Parents.

Notice to Parents About Your Child’s Information

Homefront Stories™ is a product of Thought2Creations LLC, P.O. Box 1043, Richlands, NC 28574, contact@thought2creations.com.

Your consent comes first. To make a personalized book, we need some information about your child and your family. Federal law (the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) requires a parent’s consent before we collect, use, or share a child’s information. We won’t collect, use, or share any of it unless you give consent below and complete your payment. Until your payment goes through, the details you’ve entered stay only on your device, and we don’t receive them. If you don’t complete payment, we never receive them. If you come back more than 48 hours after your last change, our site deletes them from your device when the page opens. You can also delete them anytime with “Clear my details.”

What we collect, and why. Everything is chosen from lists, except a few short names.

  • Your child: first name or nickname (required, to write into the story); and age in years (required, to fit the story and pictures).
  • Brothers and sisters, including a new baby (up to 4, optional): a first name or a label like “big sister” or “baby brother,” and age in years (0 for a baby). We never ask for a due date or birth date.
  • Family members in the story, from lists: a role label or nickname for a parent who’s traveling or away (in military and Parent Travels for Work stories) and for the parent at home, such as “Daddy” or “Mama”; a grandparent label such as “Nana” or “Papa” (optional); and, for military stories only, the service member’s branch (optional). We never ask for a last name, rank, unit, base, deployment location, employer, or where anyone travels or lives.
  • Pets (optional): type, name, and color.
  • Story choices: story type (required): a Military story or an Everyday story such as Moving or First Day of School. Optionally, a job in plain words and a favorite toy, picked from lists.
  • How the characters look (all optional): for your child and siblings, you can pick a skin tone swatch, hair color, hair style, eye color, and glasses or no glasses. For the parents and a grandparent, you can pick hair color, hair style, eye color, glasses or no glasses, and an age look, but not a skin tone: their characters use your child’s chosen skin tone or a default. The only exception is you: if you mark the parent who’s away or the parent at home as “This is me (the buyer)” (only one of them), you can also pick that character’s skin tone. These are drawing choices only. We don’t ask about or record race or ethnicity, and we don’t guess it from these choices.

We never ask for a last name, birthday or due date, school or teacher, employer, home or city, old or new address, moving or travel destination, base, unit, or location, and we ask you not to include them anywhere.

Who we share it with, and why. Only the companies we need to make and deliver your book, and only for that purpose:

  • xAI (SpaceX Super Intelligence LLC): its AI model writes the story text from your choices and our own story outlines, and creates the illustrations. It receives ages, the look choices, and story choices. It doesn’t receive any names: the AI writes with placeholders, and we add the names on our own systems. We use its zero-data-retention service, and our contract says it won’t use the content to train AI.
  • Vercel Inc., Cloudflare, Inc., and Neon: host our website, run the systems that make your book, and store your order securely.

Stripe processes your payment and Resend sends our emails, but neither one receives your child’s or family’s story details. We don’t sell any of this information, use it for ads, make it public, or let anyone use it to train AI. Because these companies are needed to make the book you’re ordering, we can’t make your book without sharing with them. We’ll never share your child’s information with anyone else for any other purpose unless we first ask for your separate consent.

How we verify consent. We use the credit or debit card you pay with for this order (entered directly or through Apple Pay or Google Pay) to confirm that a parent or guardian is giving consent. Your card provider notifies you of the charge. If you pay another way, including with a prepaid card, we refund the full amount automatically within 1 business day and don’t record consent. We record your consent, and your device sends us your child’s details, only after your card payment goes through.

How long we keep it. We delete all story details, look choices, and book files 35 days after your book is delivered. If you report a problem within 30 days of delivery, we keep them until 30 days after the replacement is delivered. If you choose to keep your finished book in My Books, we keep only the finished book. If your payment goes through but your story details don’t reach us within 30 days, we cancel the order, refund the full amount automatically, and delete the choices saved with it. You can ask us to delete everything sooner.

Your choices. At any time, you can ask to review or get a copy of your child’s information by emailing contact@thought2creations.com. You can delete it, or stop us from collecting or using more of it, in My Books or by email. If you withdraw consent before your book is finished, we may not be able to complete the order, and our Terms of Sale explain refunds.
